SAP Basis Administration
Job Description
Prepare and maintain the ‘Task failure analysis report’ and track ‘First time Success Rate’.
Propose solution and suggest modification in Procedure by discussing with PO’s.
Drive the procedure enhancement by coordinate with developers / SEO / PO / Developer.
Coordinate with developers and support them with required inputs.
Perform Validation and report the issues encountered while running the procedures in VLAB
environment with the concerned procedure owner to ensure the issue doesn’t reoccur in PROD
Environment.
Sharing the feedback of the Task documentation if unclear or needs to be modified
First level of issue analysis encountered in the procedure by troubleshooting the underlying
procedure along with the PO by understanding the basic ECS architecture, newly released
features of the tools involved etc
Support Delivery colleagues in case of Procedure failure and propose immediate work around
Proactive follow-up on the tickets created for the issues encountered
Knowledge sharing within the team and with larger audience of the technical and process aspects
Maintaining documentation of the above deliverables
Expectations and Tasks:
Understand the SAF Basis Team functioning and process model
Knowledge ECS support tools - LVM, SPC, JIRA, CRT, Customer Launch Pad, Service
Now, TIC etc
Develop a deep understanding of the Enterprise Cloud solution architecture and productization
model along with the tools within 6-8 months of onboarding
Associate should be capable of delivering the targets in Scope of work however is not limited to it
solely
Know the point of contact in each team for issue resolution
Capable to independently troubleshoot, reproduce, determine the root cause for repetitive issues
Write KBA's (Knowledge Based Article) describing workarounds
Create reporting: SPC ticket trend and root causes per week
Roll-out procedure changes to/within SAF colleagues per SPC release
Provide consolidated feedback from SAF colleagues/Operations to PO
Maintain documentation of manual tasks
Support during procedure executions
Document update know-how
Major team involved in solving productive tickets for topic area
Be familiar with Problem record process
Work on problem records as problem processor or problem coordinator
Know how to maintain E2E service automation (service definition/ mapping / routing…)
Conduct the KBA training
Work Experience:
Strong Basis knowledge (ABAP, JAVA, non-NetWeaver etc) with experience in Installations and
migrations.
Knowledge of HANA and Linux is a must, DB2 and Sybase knowledge is desirable
Knowledge of various OS/DB combinations and related troubleshooting is desirable
Associate must have a very strong desire to keep up to date with technical developments in
basis, DB and Server management area within ECS Delivery and SAP
Commitment to detailed planning, documentation and quality assurance processes, especially
change control, which will support the timely implementation of enhancements to the server
environment whilst maintaining the highest levels of operational service
High levels of self-motivation and focus to work with the minimum of supervision and
deliver against agreed targets
Strong customer service awareness to keep the customers’ requirements constantly in
mind and ensure that activities align closely with these requirements
Skills and Competencies:
Full SAP life-cycle experience using HANA, DB2 database (Desirable) technologies
Strong hold on SAP NetWeaver 7 or higher
Good experience on Basis, OS and DB flavours
Minimum 2 years specialist technical skill in one or more SAP areas (5+ Years recommend)
Proven SAP experience running on HANA (must), Sybase (desirable), DB2 (desirable) platforms
Strong Communication skills, project management skills
