Job Description
ICRISAT seeks applications for Scientific Officer-Statistics. This position is based at ICRISAT Headquarters, Patancheru, Telangana, India.
Scientific Officer-Statistics.
Responsibilities: Assist in developing statistical computing programs to develop workflows for good quality control, reporting, data validation, statistical computing and other data support.Support and help in analysis of data from various research experiments of ICRISAT.Assist in training in data curation, applied statistics, statistical computing and provide support to functions of Statistics, Bioinformatics and Data Management (SBDM) Unit.Support Theme leader (SBDM) on data curation, analysis and management
Requirements: Master’s Degree in Statistics/Agricultural Statistics/Biometrics/Mathematics with strong background in data analysis. Demonstrated ability and experience in statistical analysis of data. Database curating, handling & management using SQL queries and R.Understanding of Python, JAVA and C++ will be plus. Strong knowledge on metadata management and ontologies.
Scientific Officer for their Genebank
Competencies: Proficiency in English communication skills (both written and spoken) Expertise in Computer skills (MS-Office, data analysis).Data analysis using statistical packages. Should be a good team player and adaptable to working in multicultural team.
Requirements: Masters in science, preference will be given to those with three years’ experience in regeneration and characterization of germplasm of ICRISAT mandate crops including wild relatives, or with specialization in Botany/Genetic Resources/Genetics and Plant Breeding/ Seed Technology, with 2-3 years of experience.
General: This is a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) position for three years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent, funding availability and the Institute’s continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
