Experience : Three (03) years of experience in teaching (at graduate or post graduate level) research and development, design or field engineering , surveying, administration, planning, supervision or training etc., in the field of Atmospheric/Oceanic Data Assimilation supported by scientific publications.

Discipline : Physical Oceanography/Ocean Modelling

Qualifications : i. Master’s degree in Meteorology/Oceanography/Atmospheric Sciences/ Physics/Mathematics/Geophysics or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institute with at least first class(60% Marks) in the qualifying degree and three years experience in the field of Atmospheric Sciences or Meteorology or Oceanography or Marine Sciences. Or ii. B.E/B.Tech. degree in Mechanical/Civil/Electrical/Computer Science from a recognized University/Institute with at least first class(60% Marks) in the qualifying degree and three years experience in numerical modeling of fluid flows in the earth system. Or iii. M.Tech degree or M.Sc(Engineering) in the relevant field as per (i) or (ii) above and two years experience in the relevant field.

Desirable : i. Doctorate in the relevant field or area of specialization. ii. Experience in mathematical/ numerical models used in earth sciences especially for ocean/atmosphere/tsunami/storm surges iii. Experience in finite element models iv. Experience in ocean/atmosphere/seismic data analysis v. Knowledge of fluid dynamics vi. Programing skills in FORTRAN, C, C++ and shell scripting vii. Knowledge of FERRET/Grads, MATLAB, GMT etc., the software’s commonly used for the analysis of ocean/atmosphere data sets.

Age Limit (as on normal closing date) : Not exceeding 40 years.

Selection Process : The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum requirements and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. If the numbers of applications, received in response to advertisement are large, it will not be convenient or possible to call all candidates for interview. Hence, Ministry may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview before Selection Board to the reasonable limit through screening process.
