Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Loss Prevention
-
Monitor store premises to prevent theft, shoplifting, or any suspicious activities.

Keep an eye on customers and employees discreetly, using both physical patrols and CCTV surveillance (if available).

Approach and question individuals acting suspiciously in accordance with store policy.
-
Detain suspects only when necessary and permitted by law, using appropriate procedures until law enforcement arrives.

Assist with bag checks at entrances or exits if required by store policy.
2. Customer and Staff Safety
-
Ensure that the store is a safe environment for customers and staff by monitoring and controlling entry and exit points.

Escort employees or customers to their vehicles if they feel unsafe, especially at night or during shift changes.

Monitor crowd control during busy hours, promotional events, or sales to avoid overcrowding, stampedes, or altercations.

Respond to medical emergencies or accidents and alert emergency services when necessary.
3. Surveillance and Monitoring
-
Operate security equipment such as CCTV systems, metal detectors, radios, or alarms to observe store activity.

Keep logs of incidents, unusual activity, or maintenance issues noticed during patrols.

Monitor dressing rooms discreetly to prevent shoplifting while respecting customers' privacy.

Report any broken cameras or security equipment immediately to the supervisor or maintenance team.
4. Access Control
-
Manage access to restricted or staff-only areas of the store, ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed.

Check deliveries and ensure vendors or contractors entering the store are logged and verified.

Lock and unlock doors as required, especially during opening and closing hours.
5. Emergency Response
-
Respond quickly and appropriately to fire alarms, medical emergencies, fights, or disturbances.

Assist in store evacuation procedures during emergencies such as fires, earthquakes, or other threats.

Follow company protocols for handling bomb threats, armed robbery, or active threats.
-
Cooperate with local law enforcement or emergency services when they arrive on the scene.
6. Store Operations Support
-
Support store staff in enforcing policies such as no smoking, no loitering, or no photography if applicable.

Assist in resolving customer disputes that may escalate into aggressive or violent behavior.
-
Help direct foot traffic during busy times to ensure the smooth flow of customers and avoid hazards.
-
Attend regular briefings with store management and contribute to safety planning or loss prevention strategy.
