Senior Engineer
Job Description
Introduction
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and dedicated Senior Engineer (Civil) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction project planning, execution, supervision, and quality control.
This role involves managing large-scale civil engineering projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the timely and successful delivery of projects while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution

Develop comprehensive project plans including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

Review project specifications, drawings, and designs to ensure compliance with client and regulatory requirements.

Plan and execute civil engineering activities, ensuring timely project completion.

Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate delays or cost overruns.
2. Site Supervision & Coordination
-
Oversee on-site activities, ensuring proper execution of civil works according to approved designs.

Supervise contractors, subcontractors, and construction workers to ensure work quality and adherence to schedules.

Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, consultants, and vendors for smooth project progress.

Ensure effective communication between on-site teams and the project management office.
3. Quality Control & Assurance

Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure materials and workmanship meet required standards.

Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify deviations and recommend corrective measures.

Maintain project documentation including inspection reports, test results, and quality records.

Ensure adherence to relevant IS codes, BIS standards, and industry best practices.
4. Resource & Material Management

Estimate and manage the procurement of construction materials and equipment.

Negotiate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality materials at competitive prices.

Monitor resource utilization and minimize wastage through efficient planning.

Maintain proper stock records for project-related resources.
5. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
-
Enforce safety protocols on site to prevent accidents and hazards.

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and legal requirements.

Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks to educate workers on safe practices.

Investigate incidents, prepare reports, and implement preventive measures.
6. Budgeting & Cost Control
-
Prepare accurate project cost estimates and ensure expenses remain within the approved budget.

Track material usage, labor costs, and subcontractor payments to control project expenditure.

Provide regular project cost reports to management and suggest cost-optimization strategies.
7. Client & Stakeholder Interaction

Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders.

Participate in client meetings to discuss project status, issues, and deliverables.
-
Address client concerns promptly and ensure customer satisfaction.
-
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills

Proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, MS Project, Primavera, and other civil engineering software.

Knowledge of construction methodologies, structural design, and building codes.

Expertise in quantity estimation, billing, and BOQ preparation.

Familiarity with surveying techniques, material testing, and quality standards.

Strong understanding of contracts, tendering processes, and project documentation.
Soft Skills

Leadership & Team Management: Ability to guide, motivate, and manage on-site teams effectively.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.

Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields will be an added advantage.

Certification in Project Management (PMP/Prince2) or Quality Management is desirable but not mandatory.
