Job Description
Job Location: Kochi & Kannur
Key Responsibilities:
1. Hardware Support and Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve hardware issues on laptops, desktops, and AIO PCs including motherboards, hard drives, RAM, display panels, keyboards, batteries, fans, and internal components.
Perform physical repairs or replacements of faulty parts using tools and technical manuals.
Identify root causes of performance issues such as overheating, freezing, or startup failures.
Coordinate warranty claims or vendor repairs when necessary.
2. Installation and Setup:
Install, configure, and deploy new computers and hardware for employees and departments.
Ensure that all devices are configured to company standards, including drivers, firmware updates, and hardware compatibility.
Assist with migration and setup of user data, profiles, and system settings during hardware refreshes or replacements.
Connect peripherals such as monitors, docking stations, printers, external drives, and input devices.
3. Preventative Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance checks on hardware to ensure optimal functionality and to prevent failures.
Clean and inspect internal components for dust, damage, or wear.
Run diagnostics and benchmarking tools to verify system health.
Maintain an inventory of hardware components and spare parts.
4. User Support and Customer Service:
Provide front-line technical support to users facing hardware issues.
Guide users through troubleshooting steps remotely or in person.
Log service requests and maintain clear records of work performed.
Offer recommendations on hardware upgrades or replacements based on user needs and equipment lifecycle.
5. Software and OS Interaction:
Support OS-level diagnostics related to hardware issues (e.g., disk errors, driver failures, BIOS issues).
Assist with BIOS/UEFI configuration and firmware updates.
Install and configure drivers specific to the system's hardware (chipset, graphics, audio, etc.).
6. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of repairs, installations, and configurations in ticketing or asset management systems.
Report recurring issues or potential improvements to IT leadership.
Track warranties and service histories for all hardware devices.
7. Compliance and Security:
Follow company IT policies and data protection regulations during all support activities.
Ensure secure handling and disposal of damaged or decommissioned hardware.
Work with the IT security team to ensure that hardware meets compliance standards and doesn’t pose risks.
