About Company
Named after Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, one of the most prominent and dynamic Prime Ministers of India, the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute was conceived and later found its germination and edifice in 1968 through a mutual proclamation of the governments of Canada and India. This idea of establishing an institute of repute to promote and facilitate scholarly and academic activity between Canada and India was first contemplated by Dr. Michael Brecher, a professor of political science at McGill University, when he was inspired by the convocation address delivered by Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at McGill University in June 1965
