Job Responsibilities:
Oversee Daily Operations
Ensure Customer Satisfaction
Coordinate with Other Departments
Maintain Store Appearance

Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service & Engagement:
-
Greet customers warmly and offer assistance with book recommendations or locating specific titles.

Understand customer interests and suggest appropriate genres, authors, or series.
-
Answer inquiries regarding availability, editions, pricing, and ongoing promotions.
-
Create a welcoming, book-friendly environment that encourages browsing and purchases.
2. Inventory & Stock Management:
-
Assist in receiving, unpacking, and organizing new book stock on shelves according to categories.

Ensure all books are properly labeled with price tags and barcodes.
-
Conduct regular stock checks and inform the store manager about low stock or reorders.
-
Remove damaged, outdated, or misplaced books and maintain neat displays.
3. Visual Merchandising & Store Appearance:
-
Arrange bookshelves and display tables attractively to promote new arrivals, bestsellers, and thematic sections.

Support execution of visual merchandising guidelines for special events like book launches, reading weeks, or holiday sales.

Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting shop floor at all times.
4. Billing & Point-of-Sale Assistance:

Operate the billing counter and handle transactions via cash, card, UPI, or digital wallets.

Issue receipts, handle returns/exchanges, and resolve minor billing discrepancies.

Maintain POS systems, update daily sales records, and report any system issues to the store manager.
5. Sales Targets & Promotions:
-
Meet daily and monthly individual or team sales targets as assigned.
-
Promote loyalty programs, memberships, or store discount offers to customers.
-
Assist in executing seasonal campaigns, book fairs, or promotional events inside or outside the store.
6. Coordination & Communication:
-
Communicate customer feedback to the store manager for service improvement.
-
Coordinate with back-office and inventory teams for order updates and special requests.

Support other team members in high-traffic periods or special events.
Required Skills & Attributes:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A genuine interest in books and literature (fiction/non-fiction/academic)

Strong customer handling and complaint resolution skills
-
Attention to detail in organizing and displaying merchandise
-
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail setting

Basic numerical and billing skills
-
Familiarity with POS systems and inventory tracking (preferred)
