Job Description
Job Summary:
A Site Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day management of construction activities on a project site, ensuring work is carried out accurately, efficiently, and safely. The role bridges the gap between technical design and the physical construction process by applying engineering principles, managing subcontractors, and supervising on-site execution. The Site Engineer ensures that plans and specifications are adhered to, quality standards are maintained, and project timelines and budgets are met.
This position requires strong technical knowledge, practical site management skills, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders including architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Execution and Supervision

Supervise and manage on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with engineering plans, drawings, specifications, and safety regulations.

Coordinate and monitor the work of subcontractors, laborers, and other site staff.

Assist in the planning and execution of daily construction schedules and ensure all materials and equipment are available on-site when needed.

Ensure quality control throughout the construction process and verify that work meets required standards and tolerances.
2. Technical Oversight

Interpret engineering designs, blueprints, and construction drawings and provide technical guidance where necessary.

Liaise with architects, structural engineers, and consultants to resolve technical issues.

Conduct layout, leveling, and surveying of the site using relevant equipment and instruments.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
3. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

Track project progress against agreed timelines and deliverables, and identify and address any delays or bottlenecks.

Prepare daily and weekly site reports for submission to project management.

Record all site activities, including labor, material usage, equipment deployment, and any deviations from the plan.

Report and escalate site problems or safety incidents immediately to management.
4. Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance

Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies on the job site.

Conduct routine inspections to identify hazards and ensure risk mitigation measures are in place.

Ensure workers are using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety procedures are being followed.

Support site safety meetings and toolbox talks.
5. Material and Resource Management

Monitor inventory levels of construction materials and tools and coordinate with the procurement team for timely replenishment.

Verify that all materials delivered to the site meet project specifications and quality standards.

Minimize waste and ensure efficient use of resources on-site.
6. Coordination and Communication
-
Serve as the on-site point of contact for engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and clients.

Coordinate site inspections with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities.

Maintain open communication channels among all stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts.
