Site Engineer
Job Description
Job Summary
We are hiring a committed and capable Site Engineer to oversee the on-ground implementation of railway signaling projects at railway stations and field locations. The role involves supervising installation activities, coordinating with contractors and technical teams, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and safety standards. The Site Engineer will be directly involved in fieldwork and must be open to traveling and working at remote railway station sites.
Candidates with prior experience or academic exposure in railway signaling, AutoCAD drafting, and signaling software tools will be given preference. The ideal candidate should possess a blend of technical knowledge, team supervision ability, and adaptability to work on-site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Supervision and Implementation

Monitor and manage day-to-day signaling installation activities at designated railway stations.

Ensure that work is being carried out according to project specifications, signaling plans, and quality standards.

Act as the primary point of contact between the project management team and on-site technicians or contractors.

Verify and inspect the proper installation of signal posts, track circuits, cables, relays, panels, and associated equipment.
2. Coordination and Communication
-
Coordinate with railway officials, signaling engineers, safety officers, and subcontractors on project progress.

Attend project coordination meetings and site inspections as required.

Ensure compliance with railway safety norms and obtain necessary approvals or clearances for field activities.

Report daily progress and site status to the head office or project manager.
3. Technical Support and Troubleshooting

Provide on-site technical assistance for resolving issues during installation or testing phases.

Interpret AutoCAD layouts, wiring diagrams, and interlocking plans to guide implementation.

Assist in the calibration, testing, and commissioning of signaling systems.

Diagnose problems related to power supply, wiring errors, or equipment malfunction and coordinate corrective action.
4. Documentation and Reporting

Maintain proper site records including daily progress reports, inspection logs, material usage, and manpower tracking.

Prepare and submit checklists, site measurements, and quality assurance documents.

Update signaling layout drawings and submit redline/as-built drawings at project completion.

Ensure documentation is aligned with standards set by Indian Railways or relevant authorities.
5. Health, Safety, and Compliance

Implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure worker compliance with railway rules.

Conduct site briefings to inform workers of safety requirements and work plans.

Respond quickly to safety or technical incidents and escalate when needed.

Ensure use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all site personnel.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Civil, or Railway Engineering (or related field).

Strong understanding of railway signaling principles, components, and procedures.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and circuit layouts.

Knowledge of AutoCAD and other tools used in signaling projects (e.g., MicroStation, RailCAD, SPT, or IRSE tools).

Excellent team coordination and field supervision skills.

Willingness to travel frequently and stay on-site for extended durations.

Strong communication skills to coordinate with site teams, clients, and authorities.
