Job Description
- Planning the layout of solar panels based on the specific job site and customer needs
- Preparing all components of the photovoltaic system, including the brackets and panels
- Attaching the system to the designated structure, often the building’s roof
- Connecting the equipment to the building’s electrical system
- Testing the system
- Documenting details of the installation
- Following regulations and safety protocols
- Maintaining solar equipment after it’s installed
Key Responsibilities:

System Design & Engineering:
-
Design rooftop or ground-mounted solar PV systems based on site conditions and customer requirements.

Prepare system layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and component specifications using AutoCAD or similar design software.

Select appropriate solar panels, inverters, batteries (if applicable), and mounting structures.
-
Ensure systems comply with national electrical codes and renewable energy guidelines.

Site Analysis & Feasibility Studies:
-
Conduct site visits and perform solar resource assessments.
-
Analyze shading, tilt angles, and orientation using tools like PVsyst, Helioscope, or Solar Pathfinder.

Evaluate structural integrity and electrical readiness for solar installation.

Project Planning & Coordination:
-
Collaborate with project managers to plan project timelines, budgets, and procurement.
-
Coordinate with installation teams, electricians, and contractors to ensure proper execution.
-
Prepare and maintain detailed documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Installation Oversight:
-
Supervise and guide installation teams to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
-
Perform system testing and commissioning, including inverter configuration, performance checks, and safety inspections.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during and after installation.

Compliance & Approvals:
-
Prepare documentation for government approvals, net metering applications, and subsidy claims.
-
Ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations regarding solar energy systems.

Liaise with utility companies and regulatory bodies as needed.

Maintenance & Support:
-
Provide ongoing technical support for clients post-installation.
-
Monitor system performance and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.

Generate reports on energy generation and system efficiency.
