Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced South Indian Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of South Indian cuisine, with expertise in preparing traditional dishes such as dosas, idlis, vadas, sambar, rasam, and other regional specialties. The South Indian Cook will be responsible for creating high-quality dishes, ensuring authenticity in taste and presentation, and maintaining kitchen hygiene and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparation of South Indian Dishes:

Cooking: Prepare a variety of South Indian dishes, including but not limited to dosas, idlis, vadas, sambar, rasam, appams, pongal, biryanis, and curries, following traditional recipes and cooking techniques.

Menu Development: Contribute to menu planning by suggesting new South Indian dishes or regional variations to meet customer preferences.

Special Requests: Accommodate specific dietary requirements (e.g., vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free) while maintaining the authenticity of South Indian cuisine.
2. Food Quality & Presentation:

Quality Control: Ensure the quality, flavor, and texture of dishes meet the highest standards.

Consistency: Maintain consistency in food preparation and presentation with every order.

Portion Control: Follow portion sizes and standard recipes to ensure correct food presentation and control food costs.
3. Kitchen Organization & Hygiene:

Kitchen Setup: Prepare and organize kitchen stations, ensuring all ingredients, utensils, and equipment are available for meal prep.

Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by adhering to hygiene standards, cleaning equipment and cooking utensils regularly, and managing waste disposal.

Food Safety: Follow health and safety regulations to ensure food is handled, cooked, and stored safely.
4. Inventory & Ingredient Management:

Stock Management: Help in maintaining and ordering ingredients necessary for the preparation of South Indian dishes. Ensure the availability of fresh ingredients like rice, lentils, coconut, spices, etc.

Quality of Ingredients: Inspect ingredients for quality, and ensure that all fresh items are stored and used properly to avoid spoilage.
5. Collaboration & Teamwork:

Work with the Team: Collaborate with other kitchen staff, including chefs, assistants, and dishwashers, to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Training: Assist in training junior kitchen staff or assistants in preparing traditional South Indian dishes and handling kitchen equipment safely.
6. Customer Satisfaction:

Feedback: Receive customer feedback and use it to improve food preparation and service.

Adaptability: Adapt to customer requests and ensure the best possible dining experience by offering personalized meal preparations.
Qualifications & Skills:

Educational Qualifications:

A certificate or diploma in Culinary Arts or a similar field is preferred.

Relevant training in South Indian cuisine or prior experience in a South Indian restaurant is highly beneficial.
