Job Description
Inspection and Verification:
Inspect incoming spare parts for any signs of damage or defects.
Verify that spare parts meet required specifications, including dimensions, materials, and other technical requirements.
Use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to ensure accuracy.
Document inspection results and identify any deviations or non-conformances.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of inspection data, including test results, dates, and details of any defects found.
Update inventory systems with inspection results and part status.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Inspection and Verification

Conduct incoming inspections of spare parts to ensure they meet company specifications and quality benchmarks.

Check for visual defects, dimensional accuracy, surface finish, material grade, and fitment compatibility.

Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, and vernier scales to verify part specifications.
2. Sampling and Testing
-
Implement standard sampling procedures (AQL, ISO standards) for batch inspections.

Perform functional tests where applicable to ensure that parts meet performance criteria.

Coordinate with third-party testing labs if specialized material or performance testing is required.
3. Documentation and Record Keeping
-
Maintain detailed records of quality checks, rejected parts, and corrective actions.

Prepare inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCR), and quality certificates.

Tag, label, and segregate approved and rejected parts as per company policy.
4. Supplier Quality Coordination
-
Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding quality concerns or repeated failures.

Participate in audits and assessments of suppliers to evaluate their quality systems and production capabilities.

Provide feedback to the procurement and sourcing teams for supplier evaluation and selection.
5. Inventory and Stock Handling

Ensure proper storage of spare parts to avoid physical damage, corrosion, or contamination.

Monitor stock rotation using FIFO/LIFO methods to maintain part integrity.

Ensure traceability of parts through batch numbers, serial numbers, or lot IDs.
6. Continuous Improvement and Compliance

Participate in internal quality audits and contribute to corrective/preventive action (CAPA) plans.

Suggest process improvements or changes in quality procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce part failure rates.

Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, or other relevant quality management systems.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with the maintenance, production, and procurement teams to understand part requirements and performance history.

Assist engineering teams in root cause analysis for equipment breakdowns or defective assemblies caused by spare parts.

Support the warranty and after-sales teams by providing quality data and failure reports.
