Essential: M.Sc. (Ag) with specialization in Botany / Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Plant Physiology/ Plant Biochemistry/ Agriculture (Genetics/ Plant Breeding/ Plant Biochemistry/ Plant Biotechnology/ Plant Physiology) or equivalent. Or Ph.D. in any discipline of Life Science. Or M.Sc. in any discipline of Life Science/ Botany / Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Plant Physiology/ Plant Biochemistry/ Agriculture (Plant Breeding/Genetics/ Plant Biochemistry/ Plant Biotechnology/ Plant Physiology) or equivalent with NET/GATE with 02 years research experience.

The Institute has two research stations- Central Rainfed Upland Rice Research Station (CRURRS), Hazaribagh, in Jharkhand, and the Regional Rainfed Lowland Rice Research Station (RRLRRS), Gerua, in Assam. These research stations were established to tackle the problems of rainfed uplands, and flood prone rainfed lowlands, respectively.
