Job Description
1. Confirms patient identification, valid consent, allergies, fasting status.
2. Call for the patients as per the OT list schedule, at least half hour prior to the scheduled time.
3. Ensures availability of necessary equipment, instruments and sterile stock
4. Circulating Nurse will help the scrub nurse to get the instruments trolley ready for the case.
5. Performs surgical count with scrub nurse as per standards and ensures documentation is complete
6. Monitors aseptic technique throughout procedure
7. Is aware of safety requirements to prevent injury to patients and staff
8. The instruments should be washed and cleaned of all dried blood, and then dispatched to the CSSD.
9. Dispose all the sharps in separate hard container and send it for incineration.
10. All linens/ materials to be disposed off in appropriate color-coded bins as decided by the hospital infection control policy.
11. Ensures comprehensive handover to recovery nurse
