Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care and Monitoring:

Assess, plan, and implement individual nursing care plans based on patients’ health conditions.

Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen levels.

Provide basic and advanced nursing care including wound dressing, catheter care, suctioning, and hygiene maintenance.

Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, feeding, toileting, and mobility.
2. Medication Administration:
-
Administer medications as prescribed by the physician, including oral, intravenous (IV), and intramuscular (IM) medications.

Ensure proper dosage, timing, and method of drug administration.

Monitor and record any side effects or adverse reactions.
3. Assisting with Medical Procedures:
-
Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, surgeries, and medical examinations.

Assist doctors during rounds, procedures, and emergency interventions.
-
Set up and manage medical equipment such as IV drips, ECG monitors, nebulizers, and oxygen therapy.
4. Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and timely nursing notes, patient records, and reports.

Update patient charts, care plans, and handover notes during shift changes.

Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient status and care plans.
5. Patient and Family Education:
-
Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatments, post-discharge care, diet, and medication schedules.

Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and family members.

Guide patients on preventive health measures and follow-up care.
6. Emergency Response:
-
Respond to medical emergencies promptly and efficiently (e.g., CPR, Code Blue situations).
-
Identify and report any deterioration in a patient’s condition.

Maintain readiness to deal with trauma, accidents, or unexpected patient complications.
7. Infection Control and Hygiene:
-
Follow hospital infection control policies, sterilization techniques, and hygiene protocols.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Educate patients and attendants about hand hygiene and infection prevention.
8. Ward Management and Coordination:
-
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the nursing station and patient care areas.
-
Ensure timely availability of medicines, consumables, and medical supplies.
-
Coordinate with lab technicians, radiologists, housekeeping, and other departments for seamless care.
