Job Description
Provide direct patient care including administering medications, IVs, and treatments as prescribed.
Monitor and record patient symptoms, vital signs, and medical histories.
Assist in admissions, discharges, and patient transfers.
Support physicians during rounds and medical procedures.
Ensure patient safety, hygiene, and comfort.
Maintain accurate and updated nursing documentation and reports.
Follow infection control and hospital safety protocols.
Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
Participate in departmental meetings, training, and continuous education programs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care
-
Provide direct patient care including personal hygiene, feeding, mobility assistance, and emotional support.

Monitor, assess, and document patients’ health status and vital signs on a regular basis.

Administer medications, injections, and IV fluids as prescribed by doctors.

Prepare patients for medical examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic tests.
2. Clinical Procedures and Assistance
-
Assist doctors during rounds, medical procedures, and emergencies.

Carry out prescribed diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as catheterization, wound dressing, nebulization, suctioning, etc.

Ensure that emergency equipment and supplies are available and functional.
3. Documentation and Reporting
-
Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records including nursing notes, care plans, medication charts, and reports.

Inform physicians and higher authorities of changes in a patient’s condition promptly.

Complete and submit shift handover reports to ensure continuity of care.
4. Infection Control and Safety
-
Follow hospital protocols for infection prevention and control.

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the ward/clinical area.
-
Ensure proper sterilization of medical instruments and equipment.
-
Comply with waste disposal regulations and safety guidelines.
5. Patient and Family Education
-
Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, post-discharge care, and medication usage.

Provide emotional support and counseling when needed.
-
Encourage patients to participate in their care and recovery process.
6. Administrative and Coordination Tasks
-
Coordinate with other departments (lab, pharmacy, housekeeping) to ensure timely care.

Check and manage inventory of medical and surgical supplies.
-
Report and document equipment malfunctions or shortages to the concerned authority.

Participate in nursing audits, training programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
