Job Description

1. Job Overview

A Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a retail store, ensuring smooth business functioning, maximizing sales, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining high operational standards. The role requires leadership, business acumen, inventory management, and people management skills.

The Store Manager acts as the primary point of contact between employees, customers, and management, ensuring the store meets its sales targets, customer satisfaction goals, and operational excellence standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Sales & Revenue Management

  • Drive daily, weekly, and monthly sales to achieve business targets.

  • Analyze sales reports and develop strategies to increase revenue and profitability.

  • Identify slow-moving products and develop promotional offers to boost sales.

  • Implement cross-selling and upselling techniques to maximize customer spending.

B. Customer Service & Experience

  • Ensure high-quality customer service and handle escalated complaints effectively.

  • Monitor customer feedback and take corrective actions to improve satisfaction levels.

  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and customer-friendly store environment.

  • Build long-term relationships with regular customers to enhance loyalty and retention.

C. Team Leadership & Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate store staff and sales associates.

  • Create staff schedules to ensure smooth daily operations.

  • Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, and conduct periodic appraisals.

  • Organize regular team meetings to communicate sales goals, store updates, and expectations.

D. Inventory & Stock Control

  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring sufficient stock levels to meet customer demands.

  • Conduct stock audits and monitor product movement to avoid shortages or overstocking.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to manage timely stock replenishment.

  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing inventory.

E. Store Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure proper execution of visual merchandising and store layout guidelines.

  • Oversee cash handling, billing processes, and daily reconciliations.

  • Ensure the store complies with company policies, safety regulations, and statutory requirements.

  • Manage maintenance and repairs to keep the store in top operational condition.

F. Marketing & Promotions

  • Plan and execute in-store marketing activities, discounts, and festive offers.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to increase brand visibility and footfall.

  • Monitor competitor strategies and adapt business plans accordingly.

G. Reporting & Coordination

  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports to higher management.

  • Share insights on customer behavior, staff performance, and business trends.

  • Work closely with the area manager and cross-functional teams to achieve store objectives.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

A. Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of POS systems, billing software, and inventory management tools.

  • Understanding of retail KPIs such as conversion rates, average transaction value, and footfall.

  • Familiarity with sales forecasting and target planning.
