Job Description
Structural Fitter
Assembles and installs steel structures and components using engineering drawings. Aligns, fits, and bolts or welds parts to build structural frameworks for buildings, bridges, or industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Reading and Interpreting Technical Drawings

Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the dimensions and requirements for structural fittings.

Interpret fabrication instructions and identify the sequence of assembly.
2. Assembly and Fitting
-
Cut, shape, and fit structural steel components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and machinery.

Align, secure, and assemble steel parts such as beams, columns, girders, and frames.

Ensure that all components are fitted correctly and securely according to design tolerances.
3. Installation and Erection
-
Assist in the transportation and positioning of structural components at the construction or fabrication site.

Use lifting equipment and tools to install steel structures safely.

Perform measurements and adjustments to ensure accurate alignment and installation.
4. Quality Control and Safety Compliance
-
Conduct inspections to check for defects, accuracy of fittings, and overall structural integrity.

Maintain adherence to safety standards, wear appropriate PPE, and follow site safety protocols.

Report any safety hazards, equipment issues, or non-conformities to supervisors.
5. Maintenance and Repairs
-
Perform routine maintenance and repair work on existing steel structures and machinery mounts.

Weld, grind, or replace parts as necessary to maintain structural integrity.
6. Documentation and Reporting

Maintain records of work completed, materials used, and any modifications made.

Report daily progress and any challenges faced to supervisors.
