Qualification : (i)Matriculation or its equivalent; (ii)Possession of Certificate of Competency as Serang of a Steam Vessel having engines of less than 40 nominal Horse Power or of a Motor vessel having engines of less than 226 Break horse Power, issued by the Mercantile Marine Department under Major Port Harbour Crafts Rules. (iii)Knowledge of Swimming. (iv)Should pass the trade test prescribed and conducted by the Port.
