IUAC Summer Programme 2020 for B.Sc. (Physics) Students
Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) is an autonomous centre of the University Grants Commission (UGC) providing advanced facilities to the user community for carrying out accelerator based research in basic sciences. Research is conducted primarily in the fields of experimental nuclear physics, materials science, atomic and molecular physics, accelerator physics, accelerator mass spectrometry, radiation biology and radiation physics. Students studying in second / third year B. Sc. (Physics) / integrated M. Sc. (Physics) in any Indian college / university / institute and securing minimum 60% marks in all examinations can apply for the summer programme which is scheduled from 01-26 June, 2020. The aim of the programme is to give glimpse of research opportunities available in experimental physics and impart hands-on training by scientists to young scholars. Each selected student is expected to carry out a short project in experimental physics, guided by a mentor. Upon successful completion of the project, students would be asked to present their work. A few special lectures and guided tour of the experimental facilities of IUAC will also be arranged.
Interested students need to apply online with necessary details. Applications cannot be submitted by post or through email. IUAC will provide the selected candidates free boarding and lodging at its premises and travel support by train maximum up to AC 3-tier by the shortest route (or equivalent by AC bus).

Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) was set-up by the University Grants Commission as the first Inter-University Centre (IUC) called Nuclear Science Centre after due approval of the Planning Commission and the Prime Minister in October, 1984. Its construction started in December, 1986 and completed in time on December 19, 1990.
