Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

1. System Design and Architecture

• Develop and document high-level architectural plans and frameworks for software and hardware systems.

• Create models and diagrams to describe the system’s logical and physical components.

• Define standards for system performance, reliability, scalability, and security.

2. Technology Evaluation and Selection

• Research emerging technologies and recommend solutions that align with business needs.

• Evaluate third-party products and platforms for integration and compatibility.

• Make strategic decisions regarding system platforms, data management, and middleware.

3. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with business analysts, developers, project managers, and operations teams.

• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and system solutions.

• Present architectural designs and justifications to non-technical stakeholders and executive management.

4. Integration and Interoperability

• Design systems that integrate smoothly with existing or legacy infrastructures.

• Define protocols and interfaces for communication between subsystems.

• Ensure data flows seamlessly across different systems and platforms.

5. Security and Compliance

• Incorporate best practices for cybersecurity into system design.

• Ensure systems are compliant with industry standards (e.g., ISO, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA).

• Conduct risk assessments and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.

6. Documentation and Standards

• Create and maintain detailed architecture documentation, including technical standards, best practices, and design patterns.

• Contribute to the development of internal policies and guidelines for systems development and implementation.

• Ensure consistent and structured architectural approaches across projects.

7. Quality Assurance and Performance Monitoring

• Participate in code and architecture reviews to ensure alignment with architectural guidelines.

• Define KPIs for system performance and monitor them through metrics and logs.

• Identify bottlenecks and propose optimization strategies.

8. Project Leadership and Mentoring

• Lead architectural aspects of multiple projects simultaneously.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers and junior architects.

• Help project teams understand architectural decisions and how to implement them effectively.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of system architecture concepts, enterprise software, network design, database systems, and cloud computing.

• Design Skills: Strong ability to create abstract representations (models) of complex systems using tools like UML, ArchiMate, or SysML.

• Cloud Expertise: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), microservices, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps practices.

• Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess trade-offs and choose the most efficient and scalable solutions.

• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical teams.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to foresee challenges and design solutions that are future-proof and adaptable.

• Project Management: Familiarity with agile methodologies, version control (Git), and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
