Job Description
Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Accountant to join our finance and accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing income tax returns, computing tax liabilities, filing GST returns, maintaining books of accounts, and performing a variety of compliance, analysis, and reporting tasks.
This role requires a good understanding of Indian tax laws, TDS provisions, GST regulations, and hands-on experience with capital gains calculations, deductions analysis, and balance sheet preparation. Candidates should be comfortable using accounting software and possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Income Tax Return Preparation

Prepare and file ITRs for individuals, professionals, firms, companies, and HUFs.

Analyze income sources (salary, business income, capital gains, rental income, etc.) for accurate return filing.

Ensure all tax returns are filed timely and accurately in accordance with the Income Tax Act.
2. GST Compliance
-
File monthly, quarterly, and annual GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, etc.) for clients or the company.

Reconcile GSTR-2A/2B with purchase register, and prepare GST computation and working papers.

Ensure proper application of Input Tax Credit (ITC) and identify mismatches or compliance gaps.
3. Books of Accounts & Finalization
-
Maintain and update books of accounts in Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems.

Handle day-to-day accounting transactions: sales, purchases, journal entries, bank reconciliation, etc.

Prepare profit & loss statements, trial balances, and balance sheets monthly, quarterly, or annually.

Support in statutory audits and internal audits with proper documentation.
4. Income Tax Computation & Capital Gains
-
Calculate advance tax, total tax liability, and refunds accurately.

Compute capital gains (short-term/long-term) for shares, mutual funds, property sales, etc.

Maintain proper records of acquisition cost, indexation, sale proceeds, and tax applicability.
5. TDS Preparation & Filing
-
Prepare and file TDS returns (Form 24Q, 26Q, etc.) within due dates.

Generate and issue TDS certificates (Form 16/16A) to clients/employees.

Handle TDS reconciliation with Form 26AS and ensure accurate deduction & deposit of taxes.
6. Tax Planning & Deduction Analysis

Advise clients or internal teams on eligible deductions (Section 80C, 80D, 80G, etc.) and exemptions.

Assist in tax-saving strategies for individuals and businesses.

Perform deduction eligibility analysis and suggest optimization of tax liabilities.
7. Statutory Reporting & Compliance
-
Track due dates and ensure timely compliance with all statutory requirements (IT, GST, TDS).

Stay updated with latest changes in tax laws, notifications, circulars, and amendments.

Prepare MIS reports for management on taxation matters.
Educational Qualification
-
B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) – required
-
CA Inter / CMA Inter / Certified Taxation Courses – preferred
-
Additional certification in Tally ERP, GST, or Income Tax will be an added advantage
