Job Description
Teacher for Speech and Drama -
- Candidate must have a passion for teaching
- Candidate must have good communication skills in English - Reading, Writing & Speaking
- Candidate must be able to demonstrate the various acts, be an effective storyteller
- Provide students with progressive feedback
- Prepare students for performances
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lesson Planning and Curriculum Delivery:
-
Design and deliver structured lessons in speech, drama, and performance arts tailored to age-appropriate levels.

Incorporate elements such as voice modulation, articulation, storytelling, acting techniques, stage presence, and improvisation.

Align content with academic and extracurricular goals, including syllabus for exams (Trinity, LAMDA, etc.) where applicable.
2. Student Engagement and Development:
-
Foster a creative and inclusive environment where students feel confident expressing themselves.

Identify individual student strengths and areas of improvement in speech and acting skills.

Encourage teamwork, creativity, and constructive feedback in all classroom activities.
3. Production and Performance Preparation:
-
Prepare students for school productions, assemblies, annual days, or inter-school competitions.

Assist in writing, directing, and choreographing stage performances, short plays, or monologues.

Manage rehearsals and stagecraft in collaboration with other faculty and technical teams.
4. Assessment and Feedback:

Evaluate student performance through practical assessments, class participation, and creative assignments.

Provide individual feedback on voice clarity, expression, fluency, diction, posture, and confidence.

Prepare students for external speech and drama certifications if applicable.
5. Parent & Staff Communication:

Communicate student progress to parents during meetings or through progress reports.

Coordinate with other subject teachers for cross-curricular projects or theme-based performances.

Contribute to planning of school-wide cultural and performing arts events.
6. Professional Development & Mentoring:

Stay updated on new techniques in speech training, dramatic arts, and educational methodologies.

Attend workshops, trainings, and faculty meetings to enhance professional skills.

Mentor junior teachers or student interns where required.
