 Job Opening: Team Leader - Motor Insurance

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Team Leader – Motor Insurance to manage and guide a team of sales or operations executives handling motor insurance (including two-wheelers, private cars, and commercial vehicles). This role is critical to ensure that the team achieves its performance targets related to policy issuance, renewals, customer service, and cross-selling of add-ons.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in general insurance (especially motor), excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive results while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Team Management

  • Supervise and lead a team of Motor Insurance Executives or Agents.

  • Allocate daily tasks, monitor performance, and provide necessary guidance and training.

  • Motivate the team to achieve monthly targets in terms of new business, renewals, and customer service metrics.

2. Sales & Business Development

  • Ensure achievement of sales targets for motor insurance (new policies, renewals, and add-ons like zero depreciation, roadside assistance, engine protection, etc.).

  • Guide the team in cross-selling and up-selling relevant motor insurance products.

  • Identify opportunities for business growth through dealers, agents, and walk-in customers.

3. Operations & Process Oversight

  • Oversee smooth policy issuance and documentation through online portals or insurer systems.

  • Ensure correct premium calculation, endorsements, cancellations, and renewals are processed accurately.

  • Resolve discrepancies in documents, RCs, claim history, and policy details.

4. Customer Service & Issue Resolution

  • Address escalated customer queries or complaints related to motor insurance policies.

  • Ensure timely follow-up on renewals and claim support.

  • Ensure the team delivers excellent service with fast turnaround and professionalism.

5. Reporting & Analysis

  • Track daily, weekly, and monthly team performance and KPIs.

  • Prepare sales and operational reports for senior management.

  • Analyze data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.

6. Training & Compliance

  • Conduct training sessions on product knowledge, regulatory changes, and system updates.

  • Ensure team members follow IRDAI guidelines and internal compliance protocols.

  • Stay updated on latest insurance product features, underwriting guidelines, and claim policies.

7. Coordination

  • Liaise with underwriters, insurers, surveyors, and support teams for approvals, claim assistance, and policy customizations.

  • Coordinate with marketing, IT, and back-office teams for campaign support and technical issue

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in using motor insurance quotation and issuance platforms

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, email communication, and CRM systems

  • Understanding of claim procedures, add-on covers, and underwriting terms

  • Familiarity with RTO processes, RC book, engine/chassis number details, and IDV calculation

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and team motivation abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Result-oriented with a focus on sales and customer satisfaction

  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to handle pressure

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
