Your Role and Responsibilities
As DB2 on LUW System Administrator, you are expected to work with On-Prem and Cloud platform. You will have expertise in one or more relational and non-relational data management-based software product areas. Examples include mainstream data management software, such as those from IBM and Oracle and open source technologies. Typical examples of the work are building managing industrial scale Database, building proof-of-concept solutions with data management technology and architecting data management solutions

Responsibilities

You will be working with application development teams and Application production support teams to provide subject matter expertise to maintain the existing infrastructure and to recommend best practices for the supported infrastructure. You will also be helping application development teams to optimise queries and thus helping in performance.
  • Db2 LUW (for Linux/Unix/Windows) DBA
  • Installation, Configuration, Upgrade, and Migration
  • Working with cloud purescale database and maintaining it.
  • Working on automation of dba activities.
  • Conceptualize and verbalize the benefits of technology in solving real business problems.
  • Mentor developers to help them solve problems and grow, especially as it relates to the database.
  • Create, communicate, and maintain best practices and coding standards for team.
  • Work with multiple technologies and in projects with high complexity.
  • Database Security.
  • Work to consistently improve internal processes
  • Storage and Capacity Planning
  • Backup and Recovery



Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Minimum 8-12 years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge on Db2 LUW (UDB) setup and configuration
  • Experience in Db2 administration on Linux environments
  • Solid understanding the Linux and basic OS concepts
  • Hands-on experience with creating/maintaining/optimizing a database (Db2 experience preferred)
  • Working knowledge on designing High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) systems
  • In-depth knowledge on Cloud infrastructure (IBM/Aws/Azure) along with DB optimisation / application optimisation
  • Proficient in Performance Tuning, defining Stored Procedure & triggers
  • Ability to understand application



Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Knowledge on Db2 PureScale Setup and Configuration
  • Experience in configuring and supporting HADR environment with high availability using TSA
  • Experience in developing scripts for various DBA activities along with sizing or designing the DB2 databases
  • Knowledge in Db2 installation and configuration on Linux and Windows environments
  • Understanding the Linux and Windows environments and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef etc
  • Exposure to monitoring tools such as Nagios, New Relic will be added advantage
