Job Summary:
A Tele Sales Officer – Health Insurance is responsible for generating new business opportunities by calling potential customers and selling health insurance plans. This role involves understanding the healthcare needs of individuals or families, explaining policy features, benefits, and pricing, and converting leads into policyholders through effective communication and persuasion skills.
The role demands a strong sales mindset, knowledge of insurance products, excellent telecommunication etiquette, and the ability to thrive in a target-driven environment. The officer acts as the first point of contact between the company and potential clients, contributing directly to revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead Conversion and Sales

Contact prospective customers through cold calls, warm leads, digital inquiries, or references.

Pitch suitable health insurance products based on the customer’s needs, age, family size, and income.

Clearly explain the benefits, premium structure, policy terms, exclusions, and claim process.

Answer questions related to health insurance coverage, eligibility, network hospitals, and tax benefits (under Section 80D, if applicable).

Persuade customers to buy policies by addressing their objections and highlighting value.
2. Customer Interaction and Relationship Building

Maintain a polite, professional, and persuasive tone during calls.

Understand customer pain points, medical history, or concerns, and tailor the pitch accordingly.

Build rapport and trust with prospects for long-term retention and renewals.

Ensure follow-up calls, messages, or emails are done for undecided leads until conversion.
3. Documentation and Policy Issuance

Accurately collect and update customer information such as full name, age, contact details, address, PAN, Aadhaar, nominee details, etc.

Ensure all required documents are collected and submitted digitally or physically as per company/KYC policy.

Coordinate with backend teams to complete the policy issuance, e-policy delivery, and welcome kit dispatch.
4. CRM and Reporting

Maintain daily records of calls, leads, follow-ups, and conversions using CRM or Excel.

Track lead status and update disposition in real-time to allow accurate forecasting.

Submit daily/weekly reports to team leaders and participate in review meetings.
5. Compliance and Quality Assurance

Adhere to IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) norms and internal sales guidelines.

Ensure no mis-selling or misinformation while pitching products.

Maintain call recordings and call logs for auditing and compliance purposes.

Handle sensitive customer data with the utmost confidentiality and integrity.
6. Target Achievement and Performance

Meet or exceed assigned monthly sales targets for health insurance policies.

Participate in contests, promotions, and training programs to improve sales performance.
