Job Overview

A Telecaller plays an essential role in connecting businesses with potential and existing customers. The main responsibility of a Telecaller is to make outbound calls, receive inbound calls, generate leads, promote products or services, and convert inquiries into sales. The role also involves customer relationship management, providing information, handling queries, and ensuring a positive customer experience.

Telecallers are a vital part of the sales and customer support team and act as the first point of contact between the company and its clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Outbound Calling

  • Contact potential or existing customers to inform them about the company’s products or services.

  • Promote sales, events, or campaigns over the phone.

  • Follow pre-prepared scripts to explain product benefits and offers.

  • Generate leads and book appointments for the sales team.

  • Persuade customers to purchase products or avail of services.

2. Inbound Calling & Query Handling

  • Handle incoming calls from customers and prospects.

  • Respond to queries related to products, services, prices, discounts, or company policies.

  • Provide accurate information and resolve customer concerns professionally.

  • Redirect complex queries to the relevant department when required.

3. Lead Generation & Conversion

  • Identify potential customers through cold calling, database outreach, and online inquiries.

  • Collect and verify customer details to build a qualified database.

  • Follow up on leads via calls, emails, or messages.

  • Convert inquiries into confirmed sales by explaining benefits and addressing objections.

4. Customer Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong professional relationships with customers.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing complaints and providing timely support.

  • Keep a record of customer interactions and feedback.

  • Upsell and cross-sell products or services wherever possible.

5. Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain detailed call records in CRM systems or Excel sheets.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on calls made, leads generated, and conversions.

  • Share updates and insights with the sales or management team.

  • Assist in preparing presentations, scripts, and training documents for calling campaigns.

Required Skills & Competencies

1. Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication in English and local languages.

  • Clear, confident, and polite speaking style.

  • Ability to explain information simply and persuasively.

2. Sales & Negotiation Skills

  • Convincing attitude and ability to handle objections.

  • Knowledge of sales techniques to close deals effectively.

  • Ability to promote products confidently and professionally.

3. Active Listening & Empathy

  • Pay attention to customer needs and respond appropriately.

  • Build rapport and maintain positive relationships.

  • Handle frustrated or confused customers with patience.

4. Computer & Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and email communication.

  • Familiarity with CRM tools, data entry systems, and call-tracking software.

  • Ability to work with online platforms for lead management.

5. Time Management & Target Orientation

  • Prioritize tasks to achieve daily and monthly calling targets.

  • Meet deadlines and maintain productivity under pressure.

  • Handle high volumes of calls efficiently.
