Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a results-driven and customer-focused Territory Sales Manager (TSM) to oversee sales operations and business development in a defined geographic area. The TSM will be responsible for achieving sales targets, expanding the customer base, managing distributor and dealer relationships, and promoting company products/services in the assigned territory.

This role requires excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, combined with strong business acumen and a deep understanding of the local market dynamics. The Territory Sales Manager will act as a key link between the company and the market, driving revenue growth through direct and channel sales strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Territory Management & Sales Execution

  • Develop and implement a territory-specific sales strategy aligned with overall business objectives.

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned territory.

  • Conduct regular field visits to identify new customers, meet existing clients, and close sales deals.

  • Ensure coverage of the territory through an efficient beat plan and visit schedule.

2. Channel Partner Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, retailers, dealers, and channel partners.

  • Assist in appointment, onboarding, and training of new distributors or dealers as needed.

  • Monitor distributor performance, stock levels, payment cycles, and order frequency.

  • Ensure timely supply and availability of products at retail points across the territory.

3. Market Development & Lead Generation

  • Identify new business opportunities, market segments, and unexplored areas to expand coverage.

  • Conduct competitor analysis and market intelligence to stay ahead in the region.

  • Participate in promotional activities, trade shows, in-store branding, or customer meets to enhance product visibility and lead generation.

4. Sales Forecasting & Reporting

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports, forecasting data, and pipeline updates.

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, orders, invoices, collections, and stock movement.

  • Reconcile sales figures with finance and operations teams to ensure data consistency.

5. Team Coordination & Leadership (if applicable)

  • Supervise and motivate a team of sales executives or field sales officers (if assigned).

  • Set goals, review performance, and provide guidance to the team.

  • Ensure sales staff are trained on product knowledge, pricing, sales pitches, and compliance requirements.

6. Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key accounts and high-value clients.

  • Address and resolve customer complaints, delivery issues, or service delays promptly.

  • Work with the customer support and logistics teams to ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Sales & Negotiation Skills

  • Strong knowledge of direct and channel sales strategies.

  • Confident in conducting sales pitches, product demos, and closing deals.

  • Skilled in negotiating pricing, terms, and trade schemes.

Market Awareness

  • Deep understanding of regional market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities.

  • Ability to plan territory coverage to maximize reach and returns.

Relationship Building

  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage dealers, distributors, and end customers.

  • Collaborative approach when working with internal teams and field personnel.

Analytical & Reporting

  • Proficiency in sales analytics, forecasting, and use of CRM tools or Excel.

  • Capability to interpret sales data and turn insights into actionable plans.

Communication & Organization

  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English and local language(s).

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Self-motivated and disciplined to handle field work independently.
