Job Description
Job Summary:
We are looking for a technically sound and motivated Testing Engineer Trainee to support our electrical testing and commissioning operations. This role involves performing routine and specialized testing of HT/LT electrical panels and equipment at the factory and project sites.
The ideal candidate should be eager to learn on-site practices, understand electrical safety and protection systems, and work closely with senior engineers to deliver projects safely and as per standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Routine & Site Testing:

Perform testing of HT & LT panels, switchgear, transformers, relays, circuit breakers, CTs, PTs, and other electrical components.

Assist in commissioning of electrical systems at industrial and utility project sites.

Conduct IR, PI, ratio, polarity, contact resistance, and other standard tests on electrical equipment.
2. Protection System Testing:
-
Carry out secondary injection and functional testing of protection relays (e.g., Overcurrent, Earth Fault, Differential, Distance relays).

Perform primary injection testing of current systems and breaker trips.

Assist in relay setting verification and troubleshooting during system faults.
3. Use of Test Instruments:

Operate and handle electrical testing tools such as:
-
Omicron CMC Kits
-
Megger insulation testers
-
HiPot (High Voltage Testers)
-
Primary and Secondary Injection Kits
-
Contact Resistance Meters, Multimeters, Clamp Meters
-
4. Documentation & Reports:
-
Record test results accurately and assist in the preparation of detailed test reports.

Ensure that documentation complies with IS/IEC testing standards and client requirements.

Maintain calibration records and equipment usage logs.
5. Coordination & Compliance:

Coordinate with design, quality, and site teams for timely testing and handover.

Follow strict safety protocols during testing and ensure electrical safety compliance at sites.

Support fault-finding and troubleshooting during panel installation and operation stages.
Required Skills:

Basic understanding of electrical circuits, protection devices, and panel design

Willingness to work on live equipment under supervision

Ability to learn and handle testing tools and diagnostic kits

Good communication, documentation, and coordination skills

Willingness to travel to different sites for testing and commissioning work
