Job Description
The Trainee - Maintenance / Production role is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on training and practical exposure in the areas of production operations and plant maintenance. Under the guidance of experienced engineers and supervisors, the trainee will assist in the efficient running of manufacturing processes and ensure that machinery and equipment are operating safely and effectively. This role is ideal for recent diploma or engineering graduates who are eager to start their careers in the manufacturing, engineering, or industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Support:

Assisting in Production Operations:
-
Support day-to-day production activities on the shop floor as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Monitor production lines, raw material input, and output quality under the supervision of a production supervisor or engineer.

Operate basic machinery or tools and assist with setup and changeover processes.

Process Monitoring and Reporting:

Record production data such as output quantity, material usage, and equipment downtime.

Identify any deviations in production and report them promptly to supervisors.

Ensure proper labeling, packing, and storage of finished goods.

Quality Assurance:

Follow quality control guidelines and conduct basic quality checks during and after production.

Report defects or anomalies to the quality or production team for corrective actions.

Learn to interpret basic technical drawings, process charts, and specifications.

Maintenance Support:

Preventive Maintenance:
-
Assist in routine preventive maintenance (PM) of plant equipment such as motors, conveyors, compressors, pumps, and control panels.

Help with equipment lubrication, cleaning, tightening of loose parts, and inspection of wear and tear.

Learn to read maintenance schedules and logs and follow standard procedures.

Breakdown and Troubleshooting:

Support maintenance technicians in identifying the root cause of equipment failures.

Assist in basic mechanical and electrical repair activities such as replacing belts, bearings, fuses, or faulty sensors.

Record details of breakdowns and maintenance activities in logs.

Tool and Equipment Handling:
-
Learn the proper handling and use of tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, multimeters, grinders, and welding equipment.

Maintain and organize maintenance tools and spares in the workshop or tool crib.

Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to workplace safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Follow lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance of high-risk equipment.

Report unsafe conditions or incidents to the safety officer or supervisor.
