Job Summary:
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals for the role of Trainee – Power Plant. This entry-level position is designed to give fresh engineering or technical graduates hands-on experience and exposure to the various operations, maintenance, and safety aspects of running a power plant efficiently and safely.
As a Trainee, you will work under the supervision of senior engineers and technicians across departments such as operations, maintenance, electrical systems, instrumentation, safety, and control systems. The role is an excellent starting point for building a long-term career in the energy and utilities industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Learning and Skill Development

Undergo structured training programs covering theoretical and practical aspects of power plant operations.

Observe and assist senior staff in daily plant operations, monitoring systems, and troubleshooting.

Gain hands-on experience with plant equipment including boilers, turbines, generators, control systems, pumps, motors, and transformers.

Learn about safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and regulatory standards governing power generation.
2. Plant Operations Support
-
Assist in the monitoring of key operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, voltage, frequency, and flow rates.

Record and report data from control panels and field equipment to support daily operational logs.

Support shift engineers in startup, shutdown, and load change operations.

Perform basic control room tasks such as alarm monitoring and coordination under guidance.
3. Maintenance Activities

Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks under supervision.

Help with inspection, cleaning, and lubrication of mechanical and electrical components.

Learn to identify abnormalities in plant machinery and report potential issues promptly.

Assist in maintenance documentation and use of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
4. Safety and Compliance

Strictly adhere to safety policies, PPE usage, and plant operating standards at all times.

Participate in toolbox talks, safety drills, and risk assessment exercises.

Follow Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures while working with energized equipment.

Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to the concerned authority.
5. Technical Documentation

Maintain logs of activities, observations, and findings as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Support the preparation of reports, maintenance records, and training material.

Assist in the creation of checklists and manuals under the guidance of engineers.
6. Team Collaboration

Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and control room operators to understand plant workflow.

Shadow senior team members during inspections, audits, or project implementation.

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and civil engineering staff.
Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:
-
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Power Engineering from a recognized institute.

Recent graduates or final-year students eligible for industrial training may apply.

Experience:

Freshers.

Technical Knowledge:

Basic understanding of power plant processes and types (thermal, solar, hydro, gas).

Familiarity with engineering principles related to mechanical and electrical systems.

Exposure to instrumentation, SCADA, PLC, or DCS systems is an added advantage.
