Perform routine testing and commissioning of electrical panels and equipment (HT/LT).
Job Summary:
A Trainee Testing Engineer (Electrical Panels) is responsible for supporting the testing, commissioning, and quality assurance of high-tension (HT) and low-tension (LT) electrical panels, systems, and related equipment. Working under the supervision of senior engineers, the trainee will perform standard electrical tests, assist in diagnosing and resolving issues, and ensure compliance with safety and technical standards. This role offers hands-on field experience and is ideal for fresh diploma or engineering graduates looking to build a career in electrical testing and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:

Testing and Commissioning Support:
-
Assist in the routine testing and commissioning of HT/LT electrical panels, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, protection relays, and associated components.

Perform insulation resistance tests (IR), high voltage tests (HV), contact resistance measurement (CRM), and functional testing of protection and control systems.
-
Help carry out primary and secondary injection testing of protective relays under guidance.

Support field commissioning activities including load trials, interlock testing, and system startup procedures.

Pre-Commissioning Checks:

Perform visual inspections and pre-start checks to ensure proper installation of electrical panels and cable terminations.

Verify wiring, control logic, earthing connections, and safety clearances.

Check panel labels, phase sequence, and physical connections against wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.

Documentation and Reporting:
-
Assist in maintaining accurate testing records, inspection checklists, and commissioning reports.

Document test results clearly, highlight deviations or faults found, and prepare reports for review by senior engineers or project managers.

Support the preparation of test certificates and final handover documents.

Safety Compliance:
-
Follow all electrical safety protocols and company safety guidelines while working on live or energized systems.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, arc-rated clothing, safety glasses, and insulated tools.

Ensure lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are observed during maintenance and testing activities.

Coordination and Teamwork:

Work closely with senior testing engineers, site supervisors, and project teams to understand project requirements and timelines.

Communicate test status, issues, and requirements to the team in a timely and professional manner.

Support vendors, clients, and contractors during factory acceptance tests (FAT) or site acceptance tests (SAT).

Troubleshooting Support:

Assist in identifying root causes of electrical faults during testing and help in corrective actions.

Use tools like multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and relay test kits under supervision.

Learn how to troubleshoot control circuits, logic mismatches, or hardware failures.

Learning and Development:
-
Gain exposure to protection schemes, relay logic, SCADA/PLC integration, and electrical distribution systems.

Attend internal training sessions and learn to interpret single-line diagrams (SLDs), control circuit diagrams, and manufacturer manuals.

Develop familiarity with electrical codes, IS/IEC standards, and utility norms (e.g., for 11kV/33kV systems).
