Responsibilities:

Formulate and execute transportation strategies that ensure the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods and materials.

Oversee transportation budgets and expenses, including negotiating contracts with carriers and vendors to secure competitive rates.

Supervise the scheduling and routing of shipments to guarantee timely delivery while minimizing transportation costs.

Work closely with internal departments, such as procurement and inventory management, to coordinate transportation needs and optimize supply chain operations.

Monitor and evaluate transportation performance metrics, including on-time delivery, transportation costs, and carrier performance, to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations governing transportation operations, including safety regulations and licensing requirements.

Foster and maintain relationships with carriers and vendors to ensure reliable and cost-effective transportation services.

Lead, manage, and develop a team of transportation professionals through hiring, training, and performance management.

Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in transportation management technology to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.

Address any transportation-related issues, such as delays, accidents, or customer complaints, by implementing appropriate solutions to minimize disruptions.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, logistics operations, and industry best practices.

Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify transportation challenges and develop effective solutions.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders, carriers, and vendors.

Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software applications.

Ability to lead and manage a team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
