Job Description
We are looking for a travel accountant to join our team and provide accounting support for our travel operations. You will be responsible for preparing and processing travel documents, reconciling balance sheet accounts, auditing travel expenses, and reporting on travel performance. You will also work closely with our travel agents, vendors, and customers to ensure accurate and timely payments and service delivery.
To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and at least two years of experience in travel accounting or a similar role. You should also have excellent knowledge of travel industry technology, such as Concur, TourPartner, and VisualOne, and be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office applications. You should have strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently and as part of a team. You should also be familiar with international travel customs and currencies, and be able to handle employee queries and customer complaints.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries to ensure accurate accounting within GAAP standards
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts (including commission payables and account receivable accounts, among others) and complete variance analysis monthly
- Audit travel expenses and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Provide Concur reporting and upload employee files onto Concur
- Process travel agent commissions using our Lodging Management System (AS400), TourPartner, and VisualOne
- Work with the reservations, accounts payable, and vendor setup departments to ensure accurate and timely payments to travel agents
- Ensure that TourPartner books daily accounting entries correctly
- Assist with travel accounting processes including vendor payments
- Handle employee queries and correspond with travel agents via email and phone calls
- Prepare and submit reports and analysis on travel performance and trends
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Two years of experience in travel accounting or a similar role
- Knowledge of travel industry technology, such as Concur, TourPartner, and VisualOne
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office applications
- Familiarity with international travel customs and currencies
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Customer service orientation and professionalism
