Job Description
Position Overview
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Travel Agent – Sales and Bookings to join our travel team. The primary responsibility of this role is to sell travel services and manage the end-to-end booking process for clients. The Travel Agent will assist customers with planning, choosing, and arranging their travel, as well as offering advice and up-to-date information on travel destinations, products, and packages.
This role requires a combination of sales ability, customer service, travel industry knowledge, and booking system proficiency. The ideal candidate must be passionate about travel, highly organized, and capable of handling multiple client requests efficiently while maximizing sales opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales of Travel Services

Promote and sell domestic and international travel packages including flights, hotels, tours, cruises, and travel insurance.

Understand customer travel needs and suggest suitable travel options based on budget, preferences, and purpose.

Upsell value-added services such as travel insurance, visa assistance, airport transfers, guided tours, and upgrades.

Convert inquiries into confirmed bookings by applying effective sales techniques and customer persuasion.

Meet or exceed monthly sales targets and contribute to overall agency revenue goals.
2. Travel Planning and Bookings

Coordinate with suppliers, airlines, hotels, and tour operators to confirm availability and pricing.

Use travel booking systems (GDS such as Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo, or OTA platforms) to make flight and accommodation reservations.

Provide accurate quotes, itineraries, and travel confirmations to customers.

Process payments, cancellations, re-bookings, refunds, and itinerary changes as needed.

Ensure all documentation (tickets, travel vouchers, itineraries) is complete, accurate, and delivered to clients in a timely manner.
3. Customer Service and Support

Assist customers before, during, and after their trip with queries, issues, or special requests.

Resolve complaints or disruptions (e.g., missed flights, overbooked hotels) in a timely and professional manner.

Provide travel advice including passport and visa requirements, local customs, travel advisories, weather, and health recommendations.

Maintain strong and lasting client relationships through excellent service and regular follow-ups.
4. Administrative and Reporting Tasks

Maintain accurate records of customer bookings, payments, communication, and preferences.

Keep customer database updated with personal travel histories and preferences for future targeting.

Generate daily/weekly sales reports and performance summaries for management.

Coordinate with finance/accounts to ensure timely billing and payments.
5. Market & Product Knowledge

Stay informed about new travel products, destinations, airline rules, travel trends, and visa regulations.

Attend product training sessions, webinars, trade shows, and destination expos to remain updated on offerings.

Gather feedback from clients and suppliers to improve service quality and tailor future recommendations.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred.

Strong knowledge of domestic and international destinations, airlines, travel documentation, and booking processes.

Experience using Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo is highly preferred.

Proficiency in using online booking engines (OTAs) and CRM tools.

Excellent sales, communication, and negotiation skills.

Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.

Customer-first mindset with the ability to resolve issues calmly and efficiently.
