Job Description

Roles

A Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, operating systems, software applications, and IT infrastructure within an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop systems, laptops, printers, and peripherals.

  • Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues.

  • Troubleshoot system, email, VPN, printer, and connectivity problems.

  • Install and upgrade operating systems such as Windows and Linux.

  • Configure and support applications like MS Office, Outlook, Teams, and antivirus software.

  • Manage user accounts, passwords, and access permissions in Active Directory.

  • Perform system backups, data recovery, and software installations.

  • Handle ticketing tools and resolve incidents within SLA timelines.

  • Support remote users through remote desktop tools.

  • Maintain IT asset inventory and documentation.

  • Coordinate with network, server, and security teams for issue resolution.

  • Monitor system performance and ensure endpoint security compliance.

  • Install patches, updates, and security fixes regularly.

  • Provide support during system migrations, office setups, and hardware replacements.

  • Educate users on basic IT policies and troubleshooting steps.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office, and desktop hardware.

  • Basic networking knowledge (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

  • Experience with Active Directory and remote support tools.

  • Good troubleshooting and communication skills.

  • Understanding of ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira.
