Roles
A Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, operating systems, software applications, and IT infrastructure within an organization.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain desktop systems, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Troubleshoot system, email, VPN, printer, and connectivity problems.
Install and upgrade operating systems such as Windows and Linux.
Configure and support applications like MS Office, Outlook, Teams, and antivirus software.
Manage user accounts, passwords, and access permissions in Active Directory.
Perform system backups, data recovery, and software installations.
Handle ticketing tools and resolve incidents within SLA timelines.
Support remote users through remote desktop tools.
Maintain IT asset inventory and documentation.
Coordinate with network, server, and security teams for issue resolution.
Monitor system performance and ensure endpoint security compliance.
Install patches, updates, and security fixes regularly.
Provide support during system migrations, office setups, and hardware replacements.
Educate users on basic IT policies and troubleshooting steps.
Required Skills
Knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office, and desktop hardware.
Basic networking knowledge (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Experience with Active Directory and remote support tools.
Good troubleshooting and communication skills.
Understanding of ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira.
