Introduction
We are looking for an experienced UX designer who thrives in a collaborative environment to join us in creating great end-to-end customer experiences with pixel-level visual precision from IBM’s Bangalore design studio. The team you’ll be joining is part of a worldwide design organization that is collectively responsible for the IBM Sterling software products — an AI-enabled portfolio that enables users to build intelligent, self-correcting supply chains. The role will involve working closely with a small but dynamic design team (with guidance from a design lead) to deliver frequent product release cycles and tightly align with the product owners and development teams using agile methodologies.
Tasks will consist of creating mockups, design patterns and prototypes used to develop product UI, designing business process scenarios and flows for user interfaces and demos, researching and validating customer requirements, translating actionable insights from the design research team into mockups concepts and wireframes, etc. Along with this work on next-generation enterprise solutions, shorter-term projects will arise that will further flex the creative muscles (proof of concepts, demos, etc.).

This role demands familiarity with current tools and methods, as well as experience working within and contributing to a unified design language and component system, but also requires an ability to investigate and learn new approaches to solving problems, an appreciation of UX best practices and an investment in design thinking at enterprise scale.

The candidate must be a self-starter, creative in their thinking about design issues, have strong communication and documentation skills and be able to work with a wide variety of people (UX designers, content designers, developers, product owners, etc.) — both face-to-face and via video calls with our worldwide teams.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience (5+ years) creating mockups and prototypes (low- and high- fidelity), as well as documenting interaction patterns for product UI
• Experience with creating user scenarios for usability testing, analysis of industry trends, task analysis, workflow design, layout & composition
• Experience applying styles across user interfaces
• Experience with researching and reporting conclusions in well-developed documents
• Demonstrable knowledge of wireframing and visual design tools such as Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.
• Knowledge of design methodologies and information architecture
• Presentation skills and an ability to articulate ideas in a persuasive manner (i.e. storytelling)
• An understanding of interface & user experience design best practices for web and mobile devices
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment that involves remote collaboration across time zones.
