Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT University) invites applications for the position of Scientific Assistant
Job Description
To operate High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscope (HR-TEM) instrument in the lab.
Responsible for helping technologists and scientists during lab tests and research.
Their duties include processing samples, classifying results, and recording findings by following strict safety procedures and conducting safety checks required
Operate and manage scientific equipment and/or scientific processes in support of others' research or teaching.
Responsible for the use and management of laboratory space, collection and analyze data.
Train others in the use of scientific equipment and processes.
Follow the procedures as clearly laid down
Be available to students and other related teaching and non-teaching staff in the workplace for necessary supervision/support.
Clarify doubts / demonstrate practical procedures
Overall responsibility to maintain & service the equipment to the operational standards
Insist to wear Uniform / Shoes / Lab Coats / Safety Goggles as deemed fit for self/others while operating the instrument.
To have a cordial and professional relationship with students, colleagues, and subordinates
Education:
M.Sc Chemistry/ Physics with 1st Class. Thorough knowledge of electron microscopy (TEM / SEM) will be an added advantage.
Experience:
Minimum 1 – 3 years in a similar role
Requirements:
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Advanced technical skills in operating large lab equipment
Attention to detail
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
Skillset to work with a larger team (including students, teaching, and non-teaching staff) along with managing individual key responsibility areas.
Knowledge of technological advancements in the relevant area.
