Job Description

Job Overview: The VMC Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) to machine precision parts according to specified tolerances. The operator will work with blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD/CAM software, ensuring that all parts are manufactured to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC milling machines
Program toolpaths
Inspect parts for quality control
Troubleshoot issues
Maintain tools and documentation
Safely load and unload work pieces from the CNC milling machine
Perform routine machine preventative maintenance functions
Keep machines clean
Monitor and adjust machine settings as needed
Notify supervisor if machines should require maintenance

Work environment:
VMC operator work in a manufacturing setting, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, water jets, or grinders. They are responsible for ensuring the machine produces high quality products, runs smoothly and at capacity, and is properly maintained.

Skills:

Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating CNC machines (VMC), reading technical drawings, and basic programming skills.

Experience: Previous experience as a CNC Operator or VMC Operator is preferred.

Precision: Strong attention to detail and ability to work within tight tolerances.

Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot machine issues and resolve production-related problems efficiently.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy parts, stand for long periods, and work with machinery in a manufacturing environment.

Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety protocols and machine operation best practices.
