Job Description

Position Summary:
  • Prepare dining room, including all necessary mise-en-place for service. Greet guests in a prompt and friendly manner and ensure that all seated guests receive immediate attention and that their orders are taken promptly and courteously. Be sure that guests are not being neglected at any time. Serve guests and remain attentive to the guests throughout the entire dining experience. Responsible for meeting and exceeding the expectations of all guests by providing friendly, attentive and timely service to create an exceptional Dining experience. 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming at all times, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Maintain Punctuality.
  • Ensure side stations &service area is organized and adequately stocked with replacement cutlery, linen, equipment and have supplies ready for opening.
  • Maintain cleanliness and mise-en-place level at work station and pantry for smooth operation.
  • Ensure Menu is accurate and kept in order.
  • Ensure the flowers and table decorations are fresh and comply with agreed standards.
  • Set up tables as per SOP, making sure all utensils used for table setup and service is clean, spotless, undamaged and in good condition.
  • Maintain sanitation and hygiene of the outlet according to the regulations.
  • Keep general appearance and maintenance of Restaurant area.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Present menu, take food and beverage orders accurately and repeat them for confirmation and input orders in appropriate point-of-sale system/KOT.
  • Remember likes and dislikes of the guests to give more personalized service.
  • Be knowledgeable of food and beverage items in order to answer questions and give recommendations as per the Diets Prescribed.
  • To be totally familiar with the composition of all menu items/Diet charts.
  • Follow the Front & Back waiter procedure effectively for smooth operations.
  • Communicate and work closely with kitchen staff to ensure orders are right and served within a timely manner to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Follows correct sequence of service outlined in the Standard Operating Manual.
  • Serve food and beverage orders to guests in a timely and professional manner as per SOP.
  • Ensure the quality and appearance of the food you serve meets the Soukya’s standards
  • Ensure food reaches guests in a suitable time (Serve hot food Hot & Cold food Cold).
  • Inform guests of wait times and how their order is coming along.
  • Check with guests to ensure satisfaction throughout the meal service and take action to correct any problems.
  • Respond to guest requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
  • DO NOT serve any food/drink to guests apart from their prescribed diets, always check with Supervisor/Doctor.
  • Interact with Guest during service and inform about day to day activities.
  • Politely inform guests not to use Cell phone in the dining.
  • Handle guest concerns or complaints in a professional manner and inform the Restaurant Manager for appropriate action.
  • To have full knowledge of company facilities, availability of other services, opening times of departments so that Guests can be correctly informed.
  • Remove soiled dinnerware from the table as soon as it is apparent that Guests have finished their food/ drink with an acceptable balance between speed, and allowing Guests to finish their meal without feeling rushed.
  • Observe guest and respond to any additional requests / to determine when meal has been completed.
  • Ensure tables are cleaned properly and set up according to the standards.
  • Practise good Guest relations, Anticipate and address guest’s needs, assist individuals with disabilities.
  • Support and assist team members in all aspects of service to ensure a great dining experience for all the Guests.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards at all times.
  • Maintain the highest level of professionalism, ethic and attitude towards all guests, clients, HOD’s and employees.
  • Ensure the standards are followed throughout the Restaurant.
  • Ensure Guest expectations are exceeded as much as possible.
  • Take care of guest in your station and also around.
  • Perform room service duties by taking orders, expediting room service trays, executing room service by carrying trays to rooms.
  • Ensure that billing procedures are followed in accordance with company policy.
  • Change table linen as required and ensure dirty or damaged linen is counted and exchanged for clean, usable items
  • Carrying plates, trays and glasses soiled dishes from dining room to kitchen and placing them properly at the dish wash area.
  • Clean all spillage during mealtime and at closing.
  • Must comply with health department regulations (Avoid cross contamination, Regular Hand wash procedure etc).
  • Dry wipe Glassware, China ware, hollowware and flatware.
  • Clean and refill cruet and condiment sets periodically.
  • Perform side duties include polishing of Thali set, Silverware periodically. All Chinaware to be cleaned for stains & spots as and when required.
  • Assist others with work including, but not limited to cleaning, stocking etc.
  • Complete all closing duties, including restocking items, organizing work and service areas, turning off lights/music player and safeguarding items.
  • Complete all other work assigned for the shift by Restaurant manager.
  • Attend meetings and training courses as required.
  • Expected to work to the demands of the business when needed, (perform duties of Banquet, Room service etc.)
  • Report, turn in and log all lost and found guest property.
  • Report and account for any accident, injuries, any practice, system of work or condition which may be considered to create a risk to the health and safety of any person or damage to the premises.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and ensure safety of personal, guests & colleagues.
  • Report any suspicious packages or parcels to management without delay.
  • Take part in fire or evacuation drills and ensure complete familiarisation with all exits, as well as fire extinguisher usage.
  • Comply with all company policies and rules as outlined in the Soukya Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure use of protective clothing, equipment and devices provided accordingly.
  • To clean designated areas in morning/evening routines accordance with laid-down procedures.
  • Skills and Specifications:
  • Good Personality and Behavior.
  • Excellent inter-personal/communication and Guest service skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Must be able to carry a tray with multiple dinners, set tables, chairs and rearrange furniture.
  • Ability to multi task and work well under pressure (Calm Competences.)
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, courteous and approachable attitude at all times.
  • Must be able to anticipate Guest needs and interpret non-verbal cues to know when they are ready to order or require additional service.
  • Be knowledgeable of food and beverage items on the menu.
  • Must be able to handle Guest requests in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Ability to professionally represent Soukya and deal with Guests positively.
  • Requires ability to stand and walk for entire shift.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, move, lift, carry.
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be Open minded and willing to learn.
Education and Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • At least 2 years in Waiter or Waitress position
  • Previous serving experience and food knowledge preferred
