Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care and Monitoring:
-
Conduct regular ward rounds to check the status of all admitted patients.

Monitor vitals, assess symptoms, and record patient progress daily.
-
Implement treatment plans prescribed by consulting doctors and specialists.
-
Address patient concerns and provide medical information and updates to patients and their families.
2. Emergency Response and Critical Care:
-
Attend to medical emergencies promptly, including cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, or sudden deterioration of patient condition.

Perform basic life support (BLS) or advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) if required.

Stabilize patients and immediately inform senior consultants or escalate to ICU as needed.
3. Medical Documentation and Records:
-
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of patient conditions, treatments, medications, and vital statistics.

Ensure timely and complete documentation of medical charts, progress notes, discharge summaries, and death certificates (if applicable).

Report all significant changes in patient conditions to the relevant consultant immediately.
4. Coordination with Medical and Nursing Staff:

Work closely with the nursing team to ensure timely medication administration and patient hygiene.

Coordinate with diagnostic departments (labs, radiology) for timely investigations and follow-ups.

Liaise with dieticians, physiotherapists, or specialists as needed for patient care.
5. Shift Handover and Communication:
-
Provide thorough and structured handovers to incoming RMOs at the end of the shift.

Ensure continuity of care by communicating key developments and pending tasks during the shift transition.
6. Medical Protocol Compliance:
-
Follow all hospital protocols, clinical guidelines, and infection control measures.

Ensure patient confidentiality and maintain ethical conduct at all times.

Participate in quality improvement and safety audits as required.
7. Support During Procedures and Surgeries:

Assist consultants during minor bedside procedures (catheterization, Ryle’s tube insertion, IV line setup, etc.).

Prepare patients for surgery by obtaining informed consent and preoperative evaluation if needed.
