Overview
A Warehouse Specialist plays a key role in the supply chain process by accurately managing inventory and preparing customer orders for shipment. The primary responsibility of a Warehouse Specialist is to locate, select, and prepare the correct items for dispatch, ensuring order accuracy, timely fulfillment, and compliance with company and safety standards.
This position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to efficiency and accuracy. Warehouse Specialists help maintain smooth warehouse operations by coordinating with other departments, using inventory management systems, and upholding safety and quality protocols.
Key Responsibilities
1. Order Picking and Preparation

Accurately locate and retrieve products from designated storage locations based on picking tickets or customer orders.

Ensure correct selection of items, matching part numbers, SKUs, quantities, and product specifications.

Use handheld scanners, tablets, or printed order lists to track and confirm selections.

Prepare items for shipment by packing them safely and securely using appropriate packaging materials.

Label, document, and stage outgoing shipments for carrier pickup or loading.
2. Inventory Management

Maintain accurate stock levels by updating item counts during picking, packing, and restocking processes.

Report low stock levels, damaged goods, or discrepancies to warehouse supervisors or inventory control teams.

Participate in regular inventory cycle counts and full physical stock audits.

Ensure items are stored in the correct bins or shelf locations to maximize space and efficiency.
3. Shipping and Logistics Support

Collaborate with shipping and logistics teams to confirm orders are packed and dispatched on time.

Verify shipping labels, addresses, and carrier information to prevent delivery issues.

Load prepared shipments onto delivery trucks, pallets, or conveyor belts as needed.

Coordinate with transportation providers for outgoing shipments and incoming deliveries.
4. Equipment Operation

Safely operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, hand trucks, and carts.

Perform routine checks on equipment before use and report any malfunctions or safety hazards.

Follow proper lifting techniques and safety procedures during equipment handling.
5. Quality Control and Accuracy

Double-check selected orders for accuracy before packaging.

Identify and isolate defective or damaged products during the picking process.

Maintain high standards of order accuracy and cleanliness in packing areas.

Assist in implementing quality assurance measures to reduce packing errors and returns.
6. Safety and Housekeeping

Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Keep aisles, shelves, and workstations clean and free of hazards.

Dispose of packing waste, debris, and damaged items in accordance with warehouse policies.

Report unsafe working conditions or incidents immediately to supervisors.
7. Team Collaboration

Work closely with warehouse associates, team leaders, and supervisors to fulfill orders quickly and correctly.

Communicate effectively about item availability, stock locations, or potential delays.

Assist in training new team members on standard warehouse procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Core Skills

Familiarity with inventory systems, barcode scanners, or warehouse management software (WMS).

Good understanding of order picking, packing, and shipping procedures.

Ability to follow instructions, read order forms, and identify product labels/SKUs.

Physically fit with the ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items (typically up to 50 lbs or 23 kg).

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Prior experience in warehouse operations, order fulfillment, or shipping and receiving is preferred.

Forklift certification (if required) is a plus.
