Job Description
Responsible for operating and maintaining the RO water treatment plant.
Monitor system performance, conduct routine checks, and perform basic
troubleshooting.
Ensure water quality meets safety and regulatory standards.
Maintain logs and report any issues to the supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operation of Treatment Systems
-
Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP), or Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) based on assigned facility type.

Monitor inflow, chemical dosing, aeration, sedimentation, and sludge removal processes.

Adjust valves, flow rates, and chemical feed systems to maintain treatment standards.

Start up, shut down, and regulate plant equipment such as pumps, blowers, mixers, clarifiers, filters, and screens.
2. Routine Monitoring and Process Control
-
Perform hourly/daily checks on water quality parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TSS, TDS, chlorine levels, and flow meters.

Maintain records of test results and system parameters in logbooks or digital systems.

Identify and troubleshoot process imbalances or operational deviations.
-
Ensure that treated water meets the norms prescribed by CPCB/SPCB or local pollution control authorities before discharge or reuse.
3. Equipment Maintenance
-
Conduct basic maintenance and cleaning of mechanical equipment including valves, motors, tanks, and filters.
-
Lubricate, inspect, and repair minor faults in treatment system components.

Coordinate with the maintenance team or external vendors for major repairs and servicing schedules.

Monitor the condition of pumps, tanks, pipes, and chemical dosing systems regularly.
4. Chemical Handling and Safety
-
Measure, mix, and add treatment chemicals like lime, alum, PAC, chlorine, and antiscalants in correct proportions.
-
Store chemicals properly and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all substances used.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) while handling hazardous substances and operating treatment units.

Ensure adherence to company and government EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) standards at all times.
5. Documentation and Reporting
-
Maintain accurate logs of daily operations, maintenance performed, chemical consumption, and test results.

Prepare monthly compliance reports as required by internal audits or environmental regulators.

Assist in external audits and inspections by environmental or health authorities.
6. Housekeeping and Compliance
-
Keep the treatment plant, chemical storage area, and surrounding premises clean and organized.
-
Prevent water leaks, chemical spills, and unsafe practices in the work area.

Participate in periodic training and drills related to safety, emergency response, and pollution control.
