Job Overview
A Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the kitchen. They ensure that all kitchen tools, equipment, and workspaces are kept clean and sanitized to support smooth kitchen operations. This role is crucial in upholding food safety standards and assisting kitchen staff in various tasks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cleaning & Sanitation
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cutlery, and cooking equipment.
- Clean kitchen surfaces, floors, storage areas, and food preparation stations.
- Dispose of garbage and kitchen waste properly while following hygiene regulations.
- Ensure that dishwashing and cleaning supplies are stocked and used effectively.
2. Equipment & Inventory Maintenance
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned, dried, and stored properly.
- Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the kitchen supervisor.
- Help organize kitchen supplies and restock items as needed.
3. Kitchen Support
- Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation, such as peeling, chopping, and organizing ingredients.
- Maintain proper handling of kitchen tools and ensure they are accessible to staff.
- Follow health and safety regulations to prevent contamination and accidents.
4. Waste Management & Hygiene Compliance
- Follow proper waste disposal methods, including recycling and composting when applicable.
- Ensure the kitchen meets hygiene and safety standards as per food industry regulations.
- Participate in deep-cleaning activities of kitchen areas and equipment as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
1. Educational Requirements
- No formal education is required, but a high school diploma is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and hygiene practices is beneficial.
2. Skills & Experience
- Prior experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols.

3. Physical Requirements
