Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Welding and Metal Fabrication:

Perform welding operations on a variety of materials including steel, aluminum, and other metals using different welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.).

Weld and assemble metal parts for production, construction, or repair purposes, ensuring the welds are structurally sound and meet the required standards.

Use blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding specifications and procedures.

Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, and cleaning metals before welding to ensure proper bonding.
2. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

Operate welding machines, torches, and other equipment used in welding processes.

Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment, including checking for wear and tear and replacing consumables such as electrodes, tips, and gas tanks.

Follow proper procedures for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining welding equipment and safety devices.
3. Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, helmets, and welding jackets.

Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and safe, including following safety procedures to minimize the risk of accidents, fire, or equipment malfunctions.

Follow company guidelines and industry regulations related to welding practices, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
4. Quality Control and Inspection:

Inspect welded areas for defects such as cracks, misalignment, or incomplete fusion, and perform necessary repairs.

Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) to check the quality of welds and ensure they meet industry standards and specifications.

Maintain high-quality standards by measuring and inspecting welds using tools like micrometers, gauges, and calipers.
5. Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to understand project specifications and requirements.

Communicate effectively regarding project progress, challenges, and any necessary adjustments to work plans.

Provide guidance or mentorship to junior welders or apprentices when needed.
6. Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of welding work completed, including the materials used, weld types, dimensions, and any deviations from the original plans.

Report any issues or concerns with materials, equipment, or project timelines to supervisors in a timely manner.
