Job Description
Key Responsibilities:

Welding of Thin and GI Sheets
-
Perform welding operations on low-thickness mild steel, stainless steel, and galvanized iron sheets using MIG, TIG, or spot welding techniques.

Ensure heat input is controlled to prevent sheet distortion, burn-through, or damage to zinc coating on GI sheets.

Prepare joints through grinding, cutting, or cleaning as required to ensure proper weld quality.

Perform both continuous and tack welding as per project requirements.

Material Handling and Preparation
-
Measure and cut sheet metal accurately according to work orders or technical drawings.
-
Set up fixtures, jigs, and clamps to hold thin materials in place during welding.

Remove rust, grease, or other contaminants from the base metal to ensure strong welds.

Reading and Interpretation of Drawings

Understand and follow engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
-
Follow dimensions, angles, and specifications precisely to ensure accurate fabrication.

Quality Control and Inspection

Inspect completed welds for appearance, strength, and integrity.
-
Perform self-checks and assist quality control in visual and dimensional inspections.

Rework or repair defective welds or parts in accordance with quality standards.

Maintenance and Safety

Maintain welding machines, torches, and equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Follow all safety procedures related to welding, gas usage, PPE (personal protective equipment), and handling of galvanized materials.

Use fume extraction systems or work in well-ventilated areas to reduce exposure to zinc fumes when welding GI sheets.

Ensure compliance with welding codes, company policies, and site safety rules.

Documentation and Reporting

Keep accurate records of welding tasks performed, materials used, and time taken.

Report material shortages, equipment malfunctions, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
