Wildlife Institute of India (WII) invites applications for the position of Project Biologist

The project entitled “Basic Study Design Of Biodiversity Assessment For Himachal Pradesh” purely on a contractual basis 

1. Position: Project Biologist

2. Emoluments: INR 30,000 p.m (consolidated)

3. Essential Qualification:

i. M.Sc. Degree in /Forestry/Wildlife Science/ GIS (with Forest Ecology)/Botany (Vegetation ecology) with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University 2. 1-year Experience in Vegetation quantification/vegetation mapping/Forest - Plant species distribution modeling

ii. M.Sc. Degree in Zoology/Entomology/ Wildlife Science/ Environmental Science with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University 2. 1-year Experience in insect ecology, biodiversity characterization, field sampling in Himalayan area

iii. M.Sc. Degree in Zoology/Wildlife Science/Forestry (Wildlife) /Environmental Management/Science with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University 2. Minimum 1-year research experience on mammalian ecological surveys, RS & GIS, related studies in western Himalaya. Proven analytical skills in basic ecological software.

4. Duration 10 Months (likely to be extended): 

5. Desirable Qualification/Skills:

i. Excellent written and analytical skills Good knowledge of flora/ethnobotany of Himachal Pradesh A keen desire and ability to carry out arduous fieldwork from foothills to the remote and rugged high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh under extreme cold or rainy conditions with minimal logistic/connectivity support.

ii. Excellent written and analytical skills Good knowledge of insect fauna of Himachal Pradesh Research experience on entomological aspects of the Himalayan region with field and analytical skills. Knowledge of biodiversity assessment methods, scientific communication skills and bio-statistical software

iii. A keen desire and ability to carry out arduous fieldwork from foothills to the remote and rugged high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh under extreme cold or rainy conditions with minimal logistic/connectivity support.

iv. Excellent written and analytical skills A keen desire and ability to carry out arduous fieldwork from foothills to the remote and rugged high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh under extreme cold or rainy conditions with minimal logistic/connectivity support.
