Job Description
Prepare patients for radiologic procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring patient comfort.
Position patients correctly and operate diagnostic imaging equipment (e.g., X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRI machines) to capture accurate images.
Follow radiation safety procedures to protect patients, staff, and self.
Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure optimal operation.
Collaborate with radiologists and other physicians to evaluate images and assist in diagnosis.
Maintain patient records and document procedures in compliance with privacy laws and hospital policies.
Monitor inventory and request supplies as needed to maintain efficient department operations.
Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards in all areas of responsibility.
Stay current with developments in radiologic technology and participate in continuing education as required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Diagnostic Imaging

Perform X-rays and radiographic imaging procedures as requested by physicians

Position patients correctly to obtain accurate and high-quality images

Adjust and operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently

Ensure proper exposure levels based on patient condition and examination requirements
2. Patient Care
-
Explain procedures to patients and address any concerns or questions
-
Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the examination
-
Use protective measures (e.g., lead aprons) to minimize radiation exposure
-
Assist patients with limited mobility or in critical condition, as required
3. Equipment Handling & Maintenance
-
Operate and maintain X-ray machines, CR/DR systems, and other imaging tools
-
Ensure equipment is calibrated and functioning properly
-
Report any equipment malfunctions or need for repairs immediately
4. Image Processing & Recordkeeping
-
Capture and process radiographic images using digital or conventional techniques
-
Label and store images with proper patient data and maintain confidentiality
-
Prepare reports or imaging results to be reviewed by radiologists or doctors
-
Maintain records of tests, procedures, and reports as per hospital guidelines
5. Safety & Compliance
-
Follow radiation safety protocols and ensure compliance with AERB (Atomic Energy Regulatory Board) and institutional standards

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the radiology room and equipment
-
Comply with infection control and biomedical waste disposal procedures
