Academic and Career Counsellor
Job Description
Conduct in-house career counselling sessions for students and parents
Travel to schools and colleges for regular orientation programs and counselling sessions
Design and implement new strategies to strengthen the counselling ecosystem
Collaborate closely with mentors and fellow career counsellors on platform activities
Record demo videos and counselling modules for the Unigoal platform
Assist in psychometric testing and interpretation
Maintain proper session records and follow-up with mentees
Represent Sygnific Careers in offline educational expos and webinars
Must be comfortable with public speaking and student engagement
Key Responsibilities:

Academic Counselling:
-
Assist students in understanding their academic performance and suggest strategies for improvement.

Guide students in selecting appropriate courses, subjects, or academic programs that align with their strengths, interests, and career goals.

Work with students to develop study plans, time management strategies, and learning techniques to enhance academic performance.

Identify students who may be struggling academically and provide early intervention support or referrals to specialized services such as tutoring, special education, or psychological services.

Help students set realistic academic goals and track their progress over time.

Career Guidance:

Conduct assessments to help students identify their interests, skills, personality types, and values using recognized tools like MBTI, Holland Code, or Strong Interest Inventory.

Provide one-on-one or group sessions to explore various career options based on students’ academic backgrounds and personal interests.

Share current and emerging trends in the job market and help students understand employment prospects, required qualifications, and career paths in various fields.

Educate students about the necessary steps to pursue their chosen careers, including degree requirements, internships, certifications, and professional networking.

Guide students in developing resumes, cover letters, and portfolios, and offer mock interview sessions to enhance job-readiness.

College and University Admissions Counselling:

Assist students with the college application process, including researching institutions, selecting programs, preparing application documents, and meeting deadlines.

Advise on standardized tests such as SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, IELTS, or TOEFL, including registration, preparation, and interpretation of scores.

Support students in writing personal statements, statements of purpose, and scholarship essays.

Help students explore scholarship and financial aid opportunities based on merit, need, or other eligibility criteria.

Provide information on studying abroad, including visa processes, cultural adjustments, and international institutions’ requirements.

Workshops and Group Sessions:

Organize and lead workshops or seminars on academic planning, career development, college readiness, goal setting, and employability skills.

Partner with external professionals, universities, and career services to host guest lectures, career fairs, and industry interaction programs.

Develop age-appropriate and grade-specific programs to address the evolving needs of students from middle school through higher education.

Parental and Faculty Collaboration:

Engage with parents/guardians to discuss students’ academic progress, career interests, and developmental needs.

Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, and other staff to implement individualized academic and career development plans.

Provide support in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, including those with special educational needs or socio-emotional challenges.

Administrative and Reporting Duties:

Maintain accurate records of student interactions, assessments, action plans, and follow-ups.

Prepare periodic reports to evaluate program effectiveness and outcomes.

Develop and update informational resources such as career guides, brochures, and digital content.

Stay current with educational policies, university admissions criteria, and labor market trends to ensure the delivery of up-to-date guidance.
